Jefferson Comprehensive Health Center Moves to New Facility

Posted: 09-Mar-2017

Fayette MS - Jefferson Comprehensive Health Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of its new health center in Fayette, MS. This newly built health center is over17,000 square feet with 12 exams rooms and four dental operatories in addition to the laboratory and X-ray rooms.

Ms. Shirley Ellis-Stampley, CEO, says the new health center will increase access to health care for an additional 1000 patients in the community. She adds, "This new health center is a dream come true! We are so elated to provide health care to our patients in an environment that is pleasing to the community we serve."

Over 300 members of the community came out to celebrate the grand opening. Even Natchez Mayor Darryl Grennell joined the ribbon cutting delegation and spoke about how proud he was of Jefferson Comprehensive Health Care's new facility as it represents all the neighboring communities around Fayette. "What is positive progress for Fayette is positive for Natchez," he said.

Janice Sherman, CEO at MPHCA, says besides the increased access to care the new facility offers, she is especially proud of how the JCHC Board and Ms. Ellis-Stampley utilized local partnerships to make this project come to fruition. "They utilized a combination of a capital development grant from HRSA with low-cost, long-term debt capital from HOPE Enterprises and HOPE Credit Union," said Ms. Sherman. "Partnering with a group like HOPE that supports the same mission as we do to assist the underserved with access to healthcare is mutually beneficial for the community and all parties involved."

Jefferson Comprehensive Health Center was formally known as the Medgar Evers Comprehensive Health Center and housed at various locations in Fayette until 1971 when the doors to JCHC opened. That site operated for 40 plus years until the opening of the new health center.

MPHCA extends our appreciation to the JCHC Board, Ms. Ellis-Stampley and her staff for their hard work and vision as we celebrate the opening of the newest community health center in Mississippi.
